Bobber Water Tower

Things to Do

Angel of Hope Memorial

Dedicated in 2017, the monument provides a location in the community for families and friends to remember the children that have been lost. Garrison became home to the 6th Angel of Hope Memorial in the State of ND.

Bobber Water Tower

Look up - you can't miss it!
The Garrison Community is proud of Lake Sakakawea and the opportunities it gives our community. When our community water tower was being built, a group of citizens suggested that the new water tower be painted like a bobber featuring the "Get Hooked on Garrison" logo. Quickly these business leaders and our City Council came up with a plan to make this Garrison's newest attractions to replace our previous "Hot & Cold" Water Towers!

Custer Mine Interpretive Site

Intersection of Highway 37 & Highway 83
The Custer Mine Interpretive Site is a parcel of land that showcases a piece of Garrison's early coal mining history. Formerly the Truax-Taer Mine, the site was established in 1989 as part of North Dakota's Centennial celebration. The site includes signage explaining the history of the area and a scenic overlook. A pond is also nearby for fishing.

Queen Elizabus & Christmas Capitol of North Dakota

Garrison is home of the Authentic Queen Elizabus Double Decker English Bus. Take a ride on the Queen at our annual Dickens Village Festival. Garrison earned the title "Christmas Capitol of North Dakota" because of the highly popular annual Dickens Village Festival.

Wally the Walleye & Walleye Capitol of the World

Main Street
Garrison is known as the "Walleye Capitol of the World." Home of Wally the Walleye, the 26-foot Walleye located at the end of Main Street in the City Park. This designation can be attributed to the bountiful fishing opportunities that Lake Sakakawea provides.

Wally Trolley
