JOB SUMMARY
Cleans and maintain all surfaces within the Community by following housekeeping policies/procedures and infection control guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
• Previous health care setting experience preferred

COGNITIVE OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Reading, writing, weighing and measuring capabilities. Contact with neighbor, public and other facility staff members. Managing multiple priorities and ability to make decisions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB, DEPARTMENTAL EXPECTATIONS
1. Clean and maintain Community restrooms, showers and bathing areas in a sanitary germ free manner and removes trash from all areas. Completes neighbor discharges and prepares room for next New neighbor admission, after nursing has removed all personal clothing & hygiene products.
2. Clean all areas in Community as needed and as assigned following housekeeping policies and infection control standards.
3. Uses all chemicals appropriately on the right surface with the proper dilution rate.
4. Operates equipment such as buffer, extractor, vacuum and any other housekeeping equipment.
5. Maintain proper level of supplies such as toilet bowl cleaner, toilet tissue, clearing clothes, etc. prior to end of shift. Check public areas to maintain safe and clean environment.
6. Wash bed frames & mattresses monthly with disinfectant.
7. Other duties: Completes all other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Organize and plan daily activities in order to complete the job in an efficient and effective manner.
•Recognize and deal with priorities and completes all assigned duties prior to end of shift.
•Meet all established time frames within the shift including start up times and break times.
•Work ahead as necessary to accommodate the needs of the upcoming shift.
•Perform all duties in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision.
•Handle telephone calls with courtesy and accuracy.
•Respect the privacy of all persons and the confidentiality of information that the employee may overhear.
•Understand the duties of other comparable positions in the department so that coverage can be maintained in emergency situations or to help out with unexpected department needs.
•Recognizes urgencies in co-workers workload and assists in completing their assignments where feasible and demonstrates a “needs no reminder” attitude after directions have been explained.
•All items are pre-prepped or prepared as close to serving times as possible.
•Batch preparation is utilized on foods which need to be prepared in such a fashion.
•Proper handling and holding of food is followed. Hot foods served hot, cold foods served cold.
•Recipes and guidelines are adhered to and portion sizes are followed.
•Food is tasted for quality upon completion.
•Foods prepared are of optimal quality.
•Meats are prepared, held and sliced where quality is apparent by color, taste, touch, and temperature.
•Knowledge is demonstrated by knowing if a product is done.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Take vitals (blood-pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration) according to established procedures.
•Measure statistics - record intake and output, height, and weight.
•Obtain routine lab samples not requiring laboratory personnel.
•Help patients with ADLs (activities of daily living) for which they need assistance, such as bathing, combing hair, brushing teeth, shaving, putting on stockings and/or slippers, dressing, ambulation, and toileting.
•Help patients with equipment for their treatment and help patients to move, transfer from bed to chair, or transport them to other departments for testing or treatment.
•Infection control: know and follow proper protocol in avoiding the spread of germs and spores which transport disease.
•Observe and report to assess the progress of the patient as well as any needs the patient might have for medical intervention and observe and remove any potential hazards which could cause accidents.
•Keep patients rooms clean and orderly
•Set up patients for meals, assisted with meals if needed, or fed if unable to do for self and document amount of meal taken.
•Answer signal lights promptly on all patients on unit, not just assigned patients.
•Practice as a team member in delivery of care.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
